Richard Wagner‘s Dogs
Portrayed by Franziska Polanski
Yes, he does exist, the likeable Wagner: the dog lover, the animal rights activist. His dogs are even more likeable. In addition to the famous Russ, there were many more in his life. As mentioned in this book Peps and Fips and Putz and Pohl and all the others are portrayed on the basis of contemporary documents and for this reason a memorial is dedicated to them. The portraits of his dogs say a lot about Richard Wagner as a person and form a biography of a different kind. They also use Richard Wagner’s example to illustrate the relationship between humans and animals and the many facets of human love for animals. ”
